You can help Samuel B. Lupowitz & The Ego Band record and release an album of Ithaca’s stories

Greetings friends, family, and fans!

After sharpening our skills together onstage since the release of the last record, the Ego Band is going into the studio to begin work on a new record: one inspired by the people, places, and stories of Ithaca, NY, and composed for the talents of the band’s eight members.

We will begin tracking in Electric Wilburland, a beautiful church-turned-recording-studio right outside of Ithaca. Helmed by Grammy-winning engineer Will Russell, it’s an ideal place to capture the energy and passion of a large band as well as the aural subtleties and details of the ten new songs.

Getting the band into an inspirational facility like Wilburland is a mark of our growth over the past two-and-a-half years making music together. It’s also an investment. In addition to the studio time, we’re looking at several significant expenses: mixing, where the individual instrumental and vocal tracks are edited, balanced, and refined. Mastering, the process of equalizing the songs so that the album sounds clean, unified, and professional.  There’s also the cost of pressing discs, designing artwork, and distributing the music digitally. All in all, we’re looking at $2000 to help us through this process. We raised over $2300 last time, and your sponsorship of this next step in our goal to spread this music from sea to shining sea would be a privilege and an honor.

Though the album is inspired by Ithaca, it touches on universal themes: battling with doubt, missing loved ones lost, searching for a place to call home, and celebrating your successes in the face of adversity. It also gets pretty funky, with the band’s now-trademark blend of male and female vocals, slide guitar, vintage keyboard sounds, earthy bass and drum grooves, and the roaring horn section.

As drummer Will Sigel says, “people need to hear this music . . . this band can bring a lot of joy to a lot of people. We just need to get the music out there.”

You can be a part of getting this music out there. Take a look at the rewards we have to offer our sponsors, and take note if you’re a local business (even if you’re not local to Ithaca!): we have special business sponsorships available, including (but not limited to) signage at shows, promotion on our radio appearances, your information in our newsletter, signed CDs, free tickets/attendance at concerts for you and employees, and your logo and information displayed on the album jacket and in the liner notes.

Sound good? Click the button below to donate securely via credit card or PayPal. You’ll receive an e-mail confirmation from PayPal, as well as a personal response from us to thank you and confirm the reward you’d like for your sponsorship. WE WILL NOT ADD YOUR E-MAIL TO ANY LISTS OR SHARE IT WITH ANYONE WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT. That would just be sleazy. All funds received will go directly to the production of the album, minus PayPal’s small transaction fees.

Alternatively, shoot us an e-mail at with any questions about how you can help. You can donate in person or by mail if you like, and other forms of support, such as sharing via Facebook, Twitter, or word of mouth, are just as meaningful and helpful.

We can’t wait to share this experience with you. Thank you for your support.
