Dec 2012 06

This past Saturday, the Ego Band and I were joined by a number of great and talented friends, including Glass Cannon, Will Shishmanian,  Erik Johanson, and our three-piece horn section, the Id Horns, to put on a big ol’ holiday show in Ithaca.

I thought I’d share the exciting and unusual material from the evening for those of you who couldn’t make it out.

Following an opening volley by Glass Cannon (with me on bass for an ending trio of Flying Pigs tunes), the Ego Band and the Id Horns took the stage…

[Songs by Lupowitz unless otherwise noted]

Don’t Do It [Holland/Dozier/Holland]
Lensful of Molly
Face to Face
Army [Folds] (our performance of this horn-driven Ben Folds Five classic was accompanied by an acrobatic routine by iCircus)
This Old House (a new song)
Big Ohio Bed

Following this set, the Ego Band played the house band for a number of other performers:

She Said Maybe [Johanson] (Erik Johanson & Ego Band)
Use Me [Withers] (Mandy Goldman & Ego Band)
The Way I Am [Michaelson] (Will Shishmanian & Michelle Ammirati)
Christmas in California [Shishmanian] (Will Shishmanian & Ego Band)
Pens and Prose [Shishmanian] (Will Shishmanian & Ego Band)
The Lemon Song [Page/Plant/Jones/Bonham/Burnett] (Mandy Goldman, Glass Cannon, & Ego Band)
The Letter [Thompson] (everybody — we had roughly fifteen people singing, playing, and rocking out onstage)
The Weight [Robertson] (everybody — the grand finale)

I’d like to publicly thank everyone involved in making this show come off.  It was a doozy! Until next time…
